Knowing many of our girls have no previous cheer experience, we have established these basic ground rules for coaches to choreograph any routines or cheers around to make the experience fun and easy! No cheer experience is required to participate in the LWAA Cheer Program. If you have any questions or concerns, please feel free to contact the Cheer Commissioner. As a reminder.... sideline cheer is completely different from competition cheer and we want to make sure all the girls get an experience they enjoy!
No stunts
Basic tumbling moves only.
Cartwheels, back bend, forward rolls, heel stretch - all okay if cheerleader has tumbling experience & she’s comfortable performing them in halftime routine only - not on sidelines!
Sidelines during games are for basic “Go, Fight, Win” type cheers. No choreographed routines or anything big that could distract from the football game.
Choreograph a basic 2-3 minute dance to be performed during halftime games. All rules will apply. No lifts.
Small lifts with girls on their knees on the ground will be okay as long as there are older girls spotting/holding them up. Up to coach and cheerleaders discretion.
